Law Fellows Program

Accepting Applications

Dear Members:

The UCLA Law Fellows Program–one of the best pre-law programs in the country–is currently accepting applications. I highly encourage you to apply for this wonderful program. Many of their alumni now find themselves at the country’s finest law schools, public-interest organizations, governmental and educational institutions, and law firms.

Finally, although FPOC wholly supports this program, we do not administer it and are in no position to answer questions regarding their application process. In short, please direct all questions directly to them.

With warmest regards,

Anthony Solana, Jr.

Law Fellows Program:

The Law Fellows Program provides early academic outreach to high-potential undergraduate students and college graduates. The program is committed to ensuring equity, access, and excellence in legal education. Applicants must have at least a 3.3 cumulative undergraduate GPA achieved at a four-year institution. A strong preference is granted to applicants whose experiences reflect limited familial exposure to post-collegiate education, career opportunities, mentoring, or social support systems. Additional consideration is given to applicants who have overcome economic and/or educational hardships and challenges, or come from or demonstrated leadership experience in economically or educationally underserved communities. The Program focuses on students’ academic development, with the objective of increasing their academic competitiveness for admission to law school. Law Fellows are strongly encouraged to participate in outreach activities aimed at serving the various community segments of Southern California.

Law Fellows attend a series of Saturday Academies held at UCLA Law in the winter and spring, where they are provided with academic enrichment, career development activities and mentoring designed to de-mystify law school and the legal profession. The components of the Program include the following (provided at no charge to all admitted Fellows):

• Professional-level instruction by UCLA Law faculty
• Full scholarship for an LSAT preparation course
• Personalized J.D. Action Plan
• Mentoring by current UCLA Law students
• Presentations by practicing attorneys and leaders in the law community
• Admissions, financial aid, and LSAT workshops
• Legal research primer by UCLA Law library staff
• Follow-up activities and counseling until law school matriculation
